Contentworks On Business Equality In 2019

Charlotte Day, Creative Director at Contentworks Agency.

Amid a social media backdrop of #equalpayforequalwork, #heforshe, and #equalityforall, leading content marketing agency Contentworks reaffirms its commitment to business equality in 2019.  With a passion for promoting equality, the team has renewed its commitment to non-profit organisation Room to Read in a move that promotes global literacy. The company hopes that by discussing the challenges of gender equality, more brands will back the charity.

Business Equality and the Importance of Literacy

Knowledge leads to new and exciting experiences in the business world. That’s why Contentworks fully supports the efforts of Room to Read, a charity dedicated to encouraging girls’ literacy and children’s education throughout Africa and Asia. Dedicated to giving youngsters a fair chance in life regardless of their gender, race or background, the Contentworks team will donate the equivalent of 500 library books in the coming year.

Speaking about the importance of literacy for all, Contentworks’ Creative Director Charlotte Day said:

“I’ll always remember reading books by torchlight when I was supposed to be sleeping. Those childhood stories fuelled my imagination and led me to pursue the career I have now.  Key skills such as reading and writing run through everything we do at Contentworks Agency. If we can provide young people with skills to enhance their future careers, we’d feel extremely proud. Our success as women within the traditional financial sector, is testament to the power of education, hard work and progressive equality. But in many parts of the world these opportunities don’t exist for young girls.  We want to be a driving force for positive change and encourage others to get involved.”

To date, Room to Read has distributed over 20.6 million books with their efforts impacting 16.6 million children worldwide. 8,703 teachers and librarians have been trained and some 1,600 books have been published in 20 languages. Room to Read has enjoyed many success stories over the years enrolling females into educational programs which quite literally change their lives. The Girl Rising campaign features youngsters like Suma from Nepal who after 6 years of working as an Indentured servant was finally enrolled in school and supported by Room to Read.

Improvement for Women in Business

Improvements for women in the corporate world have taken place in recent years. The issue of #equalityforall is very much in the limelight with women accounting for about a quarter of board directors in the Financial Times Stock Exchange (FTSE) 100 compared to just 12.5% in 2011. On a similar thread, more asset owners and managers are pushing for greater gender equality. Indeed, some 27 investors managing £10.5tn, including BlackRock and Japan’s GPIF have backed the 30% Club – a UK organisation pushing for greater female representation at the top of business. Similar efforts have been undertaken in Canada and Australia.

More and more women are also delving into the crypto space which, being in its nascent stages, offers a platform for newbies to get involved. Organisations such as ‘Women on the Block’ have been created to promote diversity, inclusion and empowerment of women in technology with summits being held across the world.

As a marketing agency for the finance sector, Contentworks is also at the very heart of industry developments and aims to highlight that women belong in the sector. Its current ‘Women in Blockchain’ series shines light on some of the most incredible females from the sector.

Equal Rights – An Ongoing Movement

Equal rights and business equality are both ongoing movements that can no longer be ignored. The ultimate aim is equality in all sectors and with trends such as #equalpayforequalwork helping to spread a poignant and relevant message.

Contentworks is the leading content marketing agency for the finance and tech sectors. The company works with leading brands to deliver high quality blogging, education, PR, whitepapers, video scripts and much more.
