How to Fly in a Private Bed in the Sky for Free Using Airline Miles

Just two years ago, I took my very first business class flight by using points. I became completely dedicated to figuring out how to use the points system to my advantage so my wife and I could fly in style without breaking the bank.

Fortunately, all of that hard work and research eventually paid off and I now know plenty about the world of flying for free by using airline miles.

I’m going to preface this by saying that it isn’t always easy. Using airline miles to fly sometimes requires that you do a bit of research, are flexible with your dates, and are always on the lookout for the next best deal.

But once you get the hang of things, you’ll never pay cash for a flight again.

If I told you that I’ve flown in a private room with a bed, complimentary champagne and one of the best meals I’ve ever eaten for free, would you believe me? Well, I have… and I’m going to teach you how to do it, too.

Step 1: Find the flight.

Going from New York City to Singapore or from Singapore to New York City can be extremely expensive, especially if you want to fly in the Singapore Suites class. To search, head over to the Singapore Air website and search for the flight you want to visit.

In this case, we are going from Singapore to New York City. A one way ticket can run you over $8,000 cash, or just 173,500 miles. See the difference? It pays to stock up on miles so you can use them on big purchases like this one.

Step 2: Transfer points to Singapore Air

Because you are making your purchase on Singapore Air, you are going to want to transfer your points from other partners (I use my AMEX Rewards Membership points) over to Singapore. You then want to redeem the flight that you found. In my case, it was a flight from Singapore to JFK with a stop in Frankfurt.

If you are unsure of how to redeem your points, don’t worry. All you have to do is log into the account that you are transferring your points from and click on a “transfer to travel partners” button. If Singapore is a transfer partner, you will see it under the name “KrisFlyer”. Enter the required information, the number of points you wish to transfer, and continue on your way.

It’s that easy! Typically, Singapore has a same day transfer time, which means that your points will be transferred easily and quickly.

Step 3: Enjoy your taste of Luxury

Singapore Suites class is unlike any other experience in the air. My wife and I had no idea what to expect when we first flew with them, but we were blown away not only by the plane itself, but by the hospitality of the crew.

Not only do Suites customers receive preferential treatment throughout the check-in and boarding processes, but they are treated like royalty throughout. An amazing meal, complimentary drinks, pajamas, toiletries, and the like are just the top of the iceberg. Singapore Suites crewmembers are constantly around, just waiting to help you with anything that you could ever need.

The best part?

Suites customers are able to sleep in a real bed, and are even provided pajamas. This means you can sleep through the night without getting a stiff neck the next morning.

Enjoy being treated like luxury! You deserve it.
