List of countries with highest number of jailed Journalists in 2014

The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) estimated that there were 221 journalists in prison across the world at the end of 2014.

No, it does not come as a surprise that China and Iran were found to be the worst offenders, holding a third of all journalists jailed globally.

According to the CPJ, China ranked number one, 44 journalists are currently being held in chinese prisons by December 2014.  The report found that  Iran is the second worst offender worldwide. 30 journalists are currently being held in Iranian prisons.

Next are  Eritrea (23 imprisoned journalists) while Ethiopia and Vietnam round off the top five with 17 and 16 imprisoned journalists respectively.
