The Pan-European lottery, Euromillions hit a record. Three million plus tickets were sold every hour (900 tickets/second), Pan-European lottery, Euromillions, has rolled over 13 times without a winner, now the still unclaimed jackpot is $266-million.
Europe’s biggest win so far was a $205-million jackpot in Italy’s SuperEnalotto. Tonight’s EuroMillions jackpot will be the largest lottery prize ever offered in the UK. They would become the 418th richest person in the UK better off than the Beckhams with their fortune of $261-million.
A National Lottery spokesman said: ‘There were unbelievable sales last time peaking between 6pm and 7pm and in all likelihood we’ll see the same again.’
If one ticket-holder scoops the lot, they will immediately become Europe’s biggest lottery winner, beating the £128.3million won by a ticket-holder in Italy’s SuperEnalotto in 2009.
The current top winner in the UK is an anonymous ticket-holder who scooped a £113million EuroMillions prize last October.
A Hull couple who have scooped £3.3 million on the EuroMillions lottery have been named. John Denston, 64, and wife Susan, 58, plan to buy a BMW 5 series with their winnings.
