Bill Gates: Microsoft’s Star and one of the Top 10 Richest

Bill Gates, aged 68, currently resides in the United States and played a pivotal role as a co-founder in the establishment of Microsoft. His net worth is estimated at a staggering $123,7 billion, with a notable ownership stake in Microsoft. Beyond this, Gates commands a diverse portfolio, boasting liquid assets and substantial investments across various enterprises.

Gates’ journey began at Harvard University in 1975, where he collaborated with childhood friend Paul Allen to develop groundbreaking software for early microcomputers. The success of this venture prompted Gates to make a significant life choice, leaving Harvard during his junior year to co-found Microsoft with Allen.

Microsoft, a global software powerhouse, not only manufactures personal computers but also provides email services through its exchange server. The company is actively involved in the sale of video game systems and associated devices, having recently made substantial investments in the burgeoning field of cloud services.

In 2008, Gates made a strategic shift from the CEO position at Microsoft to the role of board chair. Additionally, he became a member of Berkshire Hathaway’s board in 2004, ultimately stepping down from both boards on March 13, 2020.

A considerable portion of Bill Gates’ wealth is managed through Cascade Investment LLC, a privately owned investment entity. Cascade’s portfolio includes a diverse array of stocks, such as Canadian National Railway (CNR), Deere (DE), and Republic Services (RSG), along with private investments in real estate and energy.
