Microblogging site Twitter is now available in Korean-language

It appears that Twitter is gaining popularity in the Asia region, so it wanted to accommodate these users by offering the service in the language. witter users in South Korea have grown 10x since only a year ago. Twitter has just launched the Korean version of its popular service, Twitter is a tool used by celebrities and common people to update fans and family/friends.

Not only is Twitter.com now translated in Korean, but so are the official Twitter Android and iPhone apps. Korean is the seventh language to be added to the service. It is also offered in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, and Japanese.

Twitter has also partnered with Korean web portal Daum to display Korean tweets on its homepage and a telecom service partnership to make Twitter available on SMS. The blog post also listed a few notable Korean tweeters, which include actor Park Joong (@moviejhp) and the entire cast of the band Super Junior.

Twitter already has plans to add more languages by the end of the year. Existing users can now change their language settings to under account setups. You can change your language to Korean by going to “Settings > Language > Korean.”

There were more than 2.2 million registered South Korean Twitter users as of last month compared with 250,000 in January 2010, according to a recent report by Daumsoft.

“The Korean-language tweets have grown even faster than tweets in general. We’ve seen over 3,400 percent growth…of Korean-language tweets from January 2010 through December,” Yonhap news agency quoted Twitter co-founder Evan Williams as saying during a visit to Seoul.
