List of Top 5 largest smartphone vendor in the World
As the global mobile phone market grew 2.4 per cent year over year, struggling handset maker Nokia fell out of the top 5 smartphone vendor rankings for the very 1st time. In third quarter of 2012, smartphone vendors shipped a total of 445.7 million, up 45.3% from 123.7 million units in the same quarter last year, according to latest statistics from International Data Corporation (IDC).
In overall mobile phone shipments Nokia remains in 2nd place worldwide, with 18.7% of the market share, ahead of Apple’s 6.1% share but behind Samsung’s 23.7% share.
This was the first time, the Finnish mobile phone maker, Nokia slipped out of the top-five list since it debuted in 2004. Here is the list of Top 5 largest smartphone vendor in the World:
No. 1) Samsung smartphones - Company ranked number one as it shipped 56.3 million smartphones in the third quarter. Samsung now has a market share of 31.3 percent.
No. 2) Apple smartphones - Company ranked number two as it shipped 26.9 million smartphones in the third quarter, its share go up to 15 percent from 13.8 percent a year ago.
No. 3) Research In Motion smartphones - Company shipped 7.7 million smartphones in the third quarter and captured 4.1 percent of the global smartphone market.
No. 4) ZTE smartphones - Company shipped 7.5 million smartphones in the third quarter and captured 4.2 percent of the global smartphone market.
No. 5) HTC smartphones - Company shipped 7.3 million smartphones in the third quarter and captured 4.0 percent of the global smartphone market.
