List of Truly Awful Outdated and Overused Tech Phrases and Expression on the World Wide Web

Internet is full of  tech phrases and expression, new terms to our vocabulary such as  ”tweeting,” “Googling,” “friending,” OR “Skyping”. But there are few truly awful outdated tech phrases and expression people use on microblogging platforms.

Here is our list, you can share your own list of tech expressions, leave your thoughts in the comments, or tweet us your suggestion at @ceoworld.

Social Media Guru- If you go to twitter or Facebook everyone claims to be  Social Media Guru. Like many outdated tech terms, this phrase as lost meaning because of its overuse.

Internet Telephone – voice over IP OR VoIP,  has officially overtaken old tech term “Internet telephone”. VoIP is shorter, more cleaner and hasn’t been overused so far– brand names such as Skype are often used in place of the term.

Blogosphere- this word was very catchy and fancy in early day, but now as these days blogs (such as: Mashable!, Engadget, Business Insider, TMZ.com, Gizmodo, TechCrunch etc.) are dominated over internet like Tech world. So let’s just call it what it is — a blog.

Sent from my iPhone – I just hate it… SIMPLE

Going Viral- to me it looks like this is over used on social media sites and it should die as it has lost its meaning.

Ping – Another word like “Sent from my iPhone “… annoying

Microblogging - Once Twitter came into social media about 6 years ago word “microblogging” become famous.  I think, tweeting and status updates should replace Microblogging.

Tweeple – Same like ”microblogging”… Tweeple, referring to Twitter users no longer useful or catch.

Crowdsourcing – “Why don’t we crowdsource it?” Or just ask people. Same thing. Much less annoying

Information Superhighway - This term was fancy in 1990s. I believe it’s dead now. Let’s not bring it back.

World Wide Web – Same like “information superhighway”, World Wide Web is a term from the early days of the Internet in 1990s and before… has no meaning now.
