How to demonstrate gratitude on Twitter?
I am a big fan of Twitter, and use it throughout the day to find story ideas, share news and talk with another journalists or writers. But recently, i’ve seen new style on Twitter, Thanks for RTs from @ ______, @______, @_______. OR #FF (Follow Friday) @____, @_____, @______, @_____. OR Thanks to @____, @_____, @______ for the follows.
After seeing such messages as regular tweets, this annoys me ! If you want to thank someone for you’re listing, why would all your followers need to see.
I’m not against thanking people for re-tweeting or mentioning you but one has to know the difference between appreciation and overkill. Here is an example, suppose someone follows you on twitter and then you follow him back or you decided not to follow him , I don’t think writing “thanks for the follow @_____” does much to compensate.
Now when it comes to thanking for Retweets, wait till end of the day and write one or two tweets and include everyone. Thanking for Follow Fridays… i believe it’s a spam… Simple.
As Twitter has grown in popularity, people like to be recognized for their efforts. Plus, it’s a great way to begin a Twitter relationship. One tip… Your posts shouldn’t be just retweets – you must build your own credibility through updates to prove that you “know your stuff,” the news source states…. avoid is tweeting at the same time each day, as you only reaching the same people every day without broadening your audience.
Please, share your own do’s & don’t experiences on twitter…
