Toyota Motor Corp. [[TM]] plans to start sending parts to dealers in the coming days to fix a sticky gas pedal problem-led to the recall of 4.2 million cars and trucks.http://ceoworld.biz/ceo/2010/01/29/massive-recalls-may-tarnish-the-toyota-reputation Edmunds.com, an automotive Web site, estimated Toyota’s market share in the U.S. is likely to drop to 14.7% in January, its lowest level in four years. Toyota’s market share stood at 18.2% in December.
The recall affects Toyota’s 2009-2010 RAV4, Corolla and Matrix; 2005-2010 Avalon; certain 2007-2010 Camrys; 2010 Highlander; 2007-2010 Tundra and the 2008-2010 Sequoia. The Camry Hybrid is not included in the recall.
CTS Corp. of Elkhart, Ind., said in a statement that it had “deep concern that there is widespread confusion and incorrect information” about its products linked to the sudden-acceleration issue.
“The problem of sudden unintended acceleration has been reported to have existed in some Lexus vehicles and Toyota vehicles going back to 1999, when CTS did not even make this product for any customer,” the company said.
