Luxury island holidays provide the perfect recipe for vacation success because each developed island of the globe, no matter its size, offers a unique view. Warm waters, sandy beaches, sunshine and luxurious pampering at a five-star luxury resort represent the ultimate in luxury travel for many an upscale globe-trotter.
Whether a high-end vacation is a matter of course for you and your family or a treat reserved for a special occasion. For those looking for a luxury vacation though, some islands truly stand out. Here are the top luxury islands:

Turtle is one of the Yasawa islands, 20 volcanic mounds scattered in a 90km eyebrow shape above Fiji’s main island, Viti Levu. Some are small and hilly, others violently jagged and tall. Although their population is only about 5,000, the Yasawas are home to some 30 resorts, from backpacker to five-star properties.
Turtle Island is a privately owned island in the heart of the Yasawa chain of exquisite islands surrounded by blue lagoons and blessed with white sand beaches.
Wakaya is a privately owned island in Fiji’s Lomaiviti archipelago. Situated at 17.65° South and 179.02° East, it covers an area of 8 square kilometers. It is 18 kilometers from Ovalau, the main island in the Lomaiviti Group.
Wakaya was purchased in 1973 by David Harrison Gilmour, a gold-mining entrepreneur who has developed the island, building 22 kilometers of roads, a fresh water reservoir, a marina, jetty, village, church, gym, school and a recently upgraded runway. He has also developed the Wakaya Club, an exclusive resort.
Musha Cay, a beautiful private island with more than 150 acres of unspoiled tropical environment, sparkling white sugar-sand beaches, crystal clear turquoise waters, superb elegant accommodations.
Musha Cay is located 85 miles southeast of Nassau. It is a 40 minute flight from Miami or a three-hour flight from New York or Chicago by commercial or private jet to nearby Mosstown, Great Exuma. From Great Exuma, it is a 15 minute charter flight to Musha’s 2200 foot private runway.
Spring and summer temperatures average a high of 82º and a low of 77º. Fall and winter temperatures average 81º and 70º.
Mustique is a small private island in the West Indies where the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean meet. The island is one of a group of islands called the Grenadines, most of which (including Mustique) form part of the country of St Vincent and the Grenadines.
The island covers 1,400 acres (5.7 km² or 2.2 sq. miles) and it has several coral reefs. The land fauna includes tortoises, herons and many other species. Its year-round population of about 500 live in the villages of Lovell, Britannia Bay and Dover.
Palm Island, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

Originally known as Prune Island, Palm Island got its current name when the former owners, the late John Caldwell (”Coconut Johnny”) and his wife Mary, planted hundreds of coconut palms, transforming the deserted and swamp, mosquitoes infested island into a palm covered one.
Bermuda, North Atlantic Ocean
Bermuda is a British overseas territory in the North Atlantic Ocean, situated around 600 miles off the coast of the United States. It consists of around 138 islands of total area 53.3 sq km. The largest island is where the capital, Hamilton is located.
Bermuda has great attractions: outdoors, indoors, underwater and even underground. The Royal Navy Dockyard and the St. George’s World Heritage site can be all day experiences. Bermuda is abound with museums, forts, churches and other historical places of interest. Tourists can laze around at Bermuda’s golden beaches for hours.
Many Caribbean islands have beaches, but where Barbados differs is what lies behind the surf and sand. No matter your budget or style, you can find a place to stay that suits you, whether cheap, funky, restful or posh. The Seychelles government declared Cousin a Special Reserve in 1975. It is managed by BirdLife Seychelles. Visitors may not have picnics or collect shells. Even smoking is forbidden. A popular day trip leaves Praslin around 0900 from Maison des Palmes, taking in Curieuse as well, with time for a barbecue there, and later some snorkelling at St Pierre, arriving back at Praslin at around 1600.
This small, round island, dense with rich vegetation, is 900 metres off Cerf and just over four kilometres from Mahé. The entire area is open for underwater exploration and the coral between the islands makes it particularly rich in fish and marine life. Shellfish and starfish abound near the sandy beaches. For several years, until 1942, the island was used as a quarantine area for female lepers.

The Mentawai Islands are a chain of about seventy islands and islets off the western coast of Sumatra in Indonesia. Siberut (4,030 km²) is the largest of the islands. The other major islands are Sipura, North Pagai (Pagai Utara) and South Pagai (Pagai Selatan). The islands lie approximately 150 km off the Sumatran coast, across the Mentawai Strait. The indigenous inhabitants of the islands are known as the Mentawai people. The Mentawai Islands have become a noted destination for surfing.
