MySpace in talks with FaceBook over content-sharing deal and Microsoft over MSN music talks

News Corp.’s (NWSA) (NWS) MySpace is in early negotiations with Microsoft (MSFT) -owned MSN about allowing MySpace Music to help provide music for the Web portal, according to an item published Tuesday at The Wall Street Journal’s All Things Digital blog.
Microsoft doesn’t want to have to forge numerous deals with music labels, agreements MySpace Music already has in place, All Things Digital said, citing unnamed sources familiar with the talks. MySpace Music is among the top-ranked online music properties, placing No. 2 behind AOL Music in April according to a report by comScore, All Things Digital noted.
Facebook CEO Sheryl Sandberg and MySpace CEO Owen Van Natta both told The Telegraph they were in discussions about a partnership to share MySpace content across Facebook. If the deal goes ahead, Facebook users will be able to share MySpace music and video footage using the Facebook Connect platform.
Van Natta, who was formerly Facebook’s chief revenue officer, said, “We’re in talks with Facebook and other sites about how we could partner with them.” Any association between the two networks could involve MySpace’s music and video footage being shared on its rival’s Connect platform, which is a tool that gives web users the opportunity to log into third party sites using their personal Facebook password.
