Michael Jackson’s new single “This Is It” began streaming online and playing across the radio airwaves Monday, nearly four months after the “king of pop” died of a prescription drug overdose aged 50.

“This is It” premiered on Jackson’s official Web site http://www.MichaelJackson.com at midnight EDT (0400 GMT Monday). The mid-tempo number features Jackson’s trademark vocal style, background vocals from his brothers and some orchestral backing.

The highly anticipated track is named This Is It after Jacko’s London comeback tour which was due to take place this summer.

This Is It was to have been the title of Jackson’s 50-concert comeback in London, which would have kicked off in the summer had he not died on 25 June at his Hollywood home.

This Is It will be the only original track on a double CD to be released on 27 October. It will be played during the closing sequence of the upcoming film, Michael Jackson’s This Is It, which documents rehearsals for the ill-fated London shows.
