Rukhsana Kausar says no more terrorism in jammu and kashmir

A 20-year-old housewife axed to death an armed Lashkar-e-Toiba commander and then, along with her 18-year-old brother, snatched guns and opened fire on two other militants, wounding one and forcing them to flee.

The incident happened when two terrorists barged into her house in Thana Mandi village in Rajouri district Sunday night. Showing a great presence of mind, Rashida Begum, who is in her early 40s, grabbed an axe that was at her hand’s reach and flung it at the terrorists, killing one of the armed terrorists and injuring the other. Seeing his partner dead, the other terrorist took to his heels.

According to the police, the two terrorists of Lashkar-e-Taiba, the Pakistan-based group that carried out the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, had barged into Noor Ahmad’s home around 9pm and wanted to seek revenge and hold the family hostage for refusing to give shelter to Pak based ultras.

According to her, she snatched the AK 47 from one of them by pushing him on the wall, shot at one of the terrorists, butted the other with her gun, while the others ran off.

“I pushed a terrorist into the wall. I hit him with the butt of the gun and then fired several times,” says Rukhsana.

Rukhsana’a family now have a valid fear that the terrorists will seek vengence and attack them, and thus have asked the military for protection and help.

Though there have been sporadic incidents of unarmed civilians resisting armed militants from forcibly entering their houses or trying to molest their female members, it has been for the first time in last 20 years of militancy that they have killed a militant commander and injured two others.
