CATERINA SPRING – SUMMER 2009
Fine and soft alike morning fog, silk is the hallmark of this year’s summer. Its unparalleled softness adds a touch of finesse to every design – enhances its sophistication and the look of conscious femininity.
Silk takes the guise of shimmering satins and mat chiffons. It may be patterned, come in vivid and bright shades or in toned down monochromes. It may be also heavy, fall down in soft folds or be floaty and fine like gauze. Regardless of texture, it always calls for perfect tailoring. So, it’s true that noblesse oblige.
Selecting colours for their collections, designers traditionally turn for inspiration to nature. Summer brings a myriad of hues and tones vivid alike a garden in full bloom. This season presents vibrant shades of blue and delightful celadon green – the latest colour codes of spring and summer. Purples, bright fuchsia and reds we fell for head over hills in not so distant past are still in the game. It’s also hard to imagine a summer collection featuring no sand beige or muddy brown. Not to mention the ever-trendy all-time classic – white coordinated with black.
The dress – femininity come true – is the “it” item of the season! Its cut is determined by fabric. Silk frocks are usually floating, draped or sculpted in soft folds. Ruffles, asymmetric pleats, and floating shawls are the most popular finishing touches. The same applies to skirts – made of silk fabrics, they come in a wider variety of cuts for the optic effect.
This uber-feminine style is reflected by not-so-rare bows, which also make a great tie-around. Sleeves, skirts and belt buckles also reveal bows which serve for decoration only.
The safari style is strikingly different from all other new trends. It promotes cotton buttoned up dresses and blouses trimmed with tabs and flaps coordinated with loose-fitting baggy pants. Those outfits are definitely more nonchalant and less formal. This trend has been designed for summer heat waves, when the scorching sun leaves no room for impeccable elegance. Linen and cotton make the perfect fabrics for hot and humid days.
The collection also features jackets, which have become the “must-have” item in any female wardrobe. This season celebrates diversity. There are classic jackets with highly accentuated waistlines and baby-doll numbers inspired by the sixties. The range is complemented by sporty zipped jackets and numbers tailored alike denim jackets. Naturally, it also features simple and sophisticated ones as well as endearing designs decorated with sweet bows. There is a lot to choose from for every female, every silhouette and for every occasion.
The diversity is also reflected by the pants range. Although cigarette pants are still in, they are set against classic pants and wide trousers featuring loose wide legs.
It’s hard to imagine a woman’s closet featuring no spectacular and practical knitwear, which embodies comfort. Matching effortlessly any jacket, it also make an outfit with its own right. This season, designers have put openwork knitwear in the spotlight. Our collection features latticework capes thrown over tops or frocks. Those intricate fabrics are inspired by traditional knitted or crocheted sweaters, blouses and scarves. In addition to simple tops and tunics, our collection also features extravagant blouses and eye-catching T-shirts.
Accessories are a whole different story in every collection. They are the culminating piece – the final touch. This season’s shoes and bags – so impossibly beautiful and hard to resist – are made of python and alligator leather available in mat or patent. Equally tempting are satin pumps, which make the collection complete. High hills in spring and summer footwear are still in, what for many busy females translates into bodily suffering for the sake of alluring looks.
Contemporary fashion presents an increasingly diverse range. Every female is able to choose items which suit her best and make her feel comfortable. Taking an inspiration from such trends, CATERINA collection offers a wide variety of apparel to refine individual style. All items from our collection may be coordinated for a whole-new customised look. This is a genuine challenge for a female!
