By Amarendra Bhushan for CEOWORLD Magazine Updated:April 12, 2009
Although STEVE Jobs been on medical leave since January, the CEO of Apple Inc. (AAPL) is still in charge of key parts of the company, which he runs from his home. For example, Apple will release a new version of the iPhone operating system this June, and Jobs was key in the development of the new interface. He also continues to review products and is working on future products.
Chief operating officer Tim Cook runs the day-to-day operations, but Jobs, above, has continued to work on the company’s most important strategies and products from home.
Jobs took the leave in early January, citing a “treatable hormone imbalance,” but said he would be back at the end of June. In the meantime Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook sees to day-to-day matters.
According to The Wall Street Journal report, despite the fact that Apple Chief Executive Steve Jobs has been away from the company from over three months, on medical grounds, he is still very much at the helm of the company’s affairs.
While Apple refrained from commenting on how Jobs’ absence is affecting the company on an everyday basis, Phil Schiller, Senior Vice President of Marketing, told WSJ: “We’re just trying to do what we do every day.”
A very courageous and gutsy man. my thoughts and prayers are with him. “Beat this thing. Beat this thing…”
