Yapta.com, an online travel shopping service now available via Twitter!

Yapta.com, an online travel shopping service that monitors airline ticket pricing and award seat availability for travelers, today announced that its airfare savings alerts are available via Twitter. Yapta now provides travelers with instant notification of airfare savings either via the new Twitter feed or traditional email. Since launching its free service in May 2007, Yapta has alerted over 550,000 travelers to more than $135 million in savings.
“Giving Yapta users the option to receive airfare alerts on Twitter only enhances their ability to capture perishable savings,” said Tom Romary, president and CEO of Yapta.com. “Airfare prices are highly volatile and can fluctuate at any time — so Twitter is a terrific way to give travelers immediate pricing updates on specific flights, enabling them to act fast and get the best deal on airfare before the opportunity expires.”
Twitter is a popular, real-time messaging service where people share short updates (140 characters) about current events and read updates posted by others. According to the latest numbers from Nielsen Online, Twitter is the fastest growing social-networking site on the Web. It has been estimated that there are between 2-3 million registered users of the service.
Current Yapta users can opt-in to the Twitter feed by simply entering their Twitter username on the “Yapta Settings” page. From that point forward, any flight Yapta “tracks” on behalf of the traveler will generate a “Tweet” (a Twitter message) if the price drops, or if the traveler becomes eligible for an airline travel credit.
About Yapta.com
Yapta.com, Your Amazing Personal Travel Assistant, was founded in 2006 with the mission to help air travelers receive the optimal value out of their online travel planning. Yapta enables travelers to find their ideal flights, track airfare prices and be alerted when fares drop or when frequent flier miles can be used to book a flight. Bringing to light pro-consumer “guaranteed airfare” policies offered by many airlines, Yapta also helps travelers obtain an airline travel voucher when the price decreases on tickets that have already been purchased.
