Jaxtr CEO Bahman Koohestani says goodbye!

VoIP and one of the world’s largest social communications company Jaxtr Inc. has laid off 13 of is employees and its chief executive has stepped down.

In June the Menlo Park-based company raised $10 million to expand its Web-based service that allow users to make less expensive long-distance calls, and said that along with that as-yet unspent funding and its revenue streams, the company will be able to stay afloat for at least 18 months.

On the company’s blog, interim CEO Bahman Koohestani said “I know I have some large shoes to fill and am excited to build on jaxtr’s success, which has been nothing short of phenomenal. Within the first 12 months of launching the product, we got to 10 million users—we have our users to thank who have been spreading the word about jaxtr and our vision to enable new conversions worldwide by linking every phone to the Web. Having raised our Series B and launched our revenue streams this year, we now have the platform to pursue innovative services for our increasingly mobile, global and social world.

I like to thank Konstantin for his leadership, marketing insights, and social networking know-how to get jaxtr past its initial phase. I’m also glad that Konstantin will remain with us as Chairman, and I am very excited and look forward to working with the stellar team here to deliver all the enhancements our members have been asking for—and then some”

Guericke was also co-founder and CEO of Mountain View-based social networking site LinkedIn Corp. Jaxtr works with any phone, both mobile and landline. When a member adds their jaxtr link to their email signature, friends and family can call them from their regular phone from anywhere in the world without paying expensive international toll charges. Family and friends simply click on the member’s jaxtr link to generate a local number in their country.
