America under recession or depression or may be both. America vs. American

By Amarendra Bhushan for CEOWORLD Magazine Updated:August 12, 2008

America is in a depression now—–I talked to a number of people who lived thru it—-a depression is not a one day event–it takes years–like from 1930 to 1934—–ours started 2007. The housing crisis subprime ends in 2012—and then time to work off years of inventory–not 2010 and done.

Is it that simple?

It’s not going to be pretty, but there will be a reckoning. America can either do it exact and honestly, or exhibit more weakness as it has done in the recent past. Either way, it’s coming home Uncle Sam, No surprise. It’s not going to be pretty, but there will be a reckoning. Everybody wants a quick fix to every problem they have. The biggest difficulty now is systemic, there is no quick fix. Country is running out of credit, assets and credibility with their own people and the rest of the world. A depression is pretty extreme for a situation that really calls more for conservation; America need to conserve (save) more money, properly utilize our own resources (oil, natural gas, atomic energy, wind, etc) and quit trying to teach the rest of the world and focus on their own people.

The reason Americans do not want have a depression is because in human terms, it has enormous social cost. Ask yourself, who would suffer the most when a country is in a depression? It can’t be the Wall Street gurus or the very wealthy ones. It is going to be me and you. Assuming that you are not very wealthy!  Now the point is why do we attack Wall St as if we are not part of it? It is everyone’s responsibility. There is no wall St. without us being part of it. I was talking to a friend of mine last night on this issue he said “American capitalism Died in 1913, Greenspan devastated savers to bail out gamblers and trashed the dollar.”.

Most people I know are well aware of the mess the US is in financially. Impossible to fix….no. Can Americans rely on those in office or who make decisions for all of them currently to exact change…no. Is there anyone running who can make a difference….no. Sounds pretty dismal…huh. Beating up on the citizen is not the answer. Beating up relentlessly on those responsible is the answer.

SO does America need a depression, I don’t know. I certainly don’t…

So my fellow Americans, Get your self together, reach distribution centers for point of delivery. Rust belt citizens, go back to basics of profit and loss, in different industries that need your steel. Hydrogen will ultimately give the fuel you need. Do not let the market push biofuels on you, else you find yourselves creating a drought borne famine. Support each other in communities. Give your our relationships back with Doctors, eliminate the middle men. Remember Doctors provide healthcare, not buildings, or insurance company shell games. Vote your conscience, not your wallet. Above all believe that you can, listen to your heart, and change the channel when Oprah’s on.
