Ann Lott resigned as a head of Dallas Housing Authority and chief executive officer

By Amarendra Bhushan for CEOWORLD Magazine Updated:July 30, 2008

Ann Lott served as the agency’s chief since 2001, the president and chief executive officer of the Dallas Housing Authority (DHA), unexpectedly resigned.

The board selected Troy Broussard, chief of staff, as interim president and CEO and plans a national search for Lott’s successor. “The long and short of it is, if anything is wrong, the buck stops with the head, Lott’s resignation was not the result of the board asking her to, who would not talk about the federal audit.” said Betty Culbreath, the board’s chairwoman.

- federal audit questions the Dallas Housing Authority’s spending $20 million on suspicious rental assistance payments.
- it includes subsidies for 45 people who are already dead.
- The DHA spent $167,000 on 45 clients whose Social Security numbers identified them as dead.
- Between January 2006 and December 2007, the agency paid assistance for 235 clients whose Social Security numbers indicated they were dead as of April 2007.
- The agency may transfer the payments to eligible surviving family members.
- Broussard has been with the agency since 1992 and has worked in several positions including housing counselor, planner, resident services, vice president of Affordable Housing and as chief of staff.
- DHA provides housing assistance to more than 60,000 eligible citizens.

People are asking many questions, but who is there to answer.

Is every official holding an office corrupt?
What do you want to bet that all of those dead people vote regularly?
Do you think The justice department is being very biased and prejudicial here?
Do you want the government to have total control of your health care ?
