The department of civil and environmental engineering (CEE) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has been ranked as the best institute in the United States for students who want to major in civil engineering, according to an analysis by College Factual. Civil engineers with a degree from MIT are prized among employers and earn an average starting salary of $68,000.

Civil engineers with a degree from Stanford Engineering (ranked No. 2) and entry-level jobs with an average starting salary of $66,000. Stanford Engineering is also ranked as the world’s 3rd best colleges and universities for engineering and technology, 2018. Georgia Institute of Technology ranked number three on the list, followed by Stevens Institute of Technology (No. 4), College of Engineering at the Carnegie Mellon University (No. 5), and the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University of California (No. 6).

Others in the top 10 colleges and universities in the United States for civil engineering list include: the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of California – Berkeley (7th), Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (8th), Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering New Jersey Institute of Technology (9th), and the Charles E. Via, Jr. Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Virginia Tech (10th).
