America’s 26 Hardest Top-Ranked Universities To Get Into, US News Rankings 2018

A new low among most prestigious institutions in America, Harvard and Stanford accepted only 5% of students in the latest admissions season.

To determine the “20 hardest top-ranked universities to get into,” we examined institutions in the U.S. News National Universities ranking 2018 – with the “Lowest Acceptance Rates” and narrowed our criteria to only include colleges in the top 100 of the 311 ranked with acceptance rate less than 25%.

These are some of the hardest universities to get into. Leading the list is Harvard University which sent acceptance letters to only 5% of applicants who applied and rejected 95%.

All of these 26 highest-ranked universities have acceptance rate less than 25 percent.

The U.S. News rankings take 15 measures into account. From academic reputation; to graduation and retention rates; to selectivity and financial help, the publication tries to capture a school’s worthiness in a single number.
