Here are the top 25 safest cities in the United States, 2017

Unsurprisingly, Thornton, Colorado has been ranked as the safest city in America by Alarms.org, the official website of the National Council for Home Safety and Security. According to statistics, with a population of 133,188, Thornton saw 325 violent crimes and 3,373 property crimes in 2016.

Greenwich, Connecticut secured the No. 2 spot, followed by Weston FL, Johns Creek GA, Sammamish WA, and Wheaton IL.

Out of 746 qualifying cities, 20 California communities cracked the top 100, followed by 14 in New Jersey and 10 each in Illinois and Michigan.

Cities were ranked based on the number of reported violent crimes (aggravated assault, murder, rape, and robbery) and property crimes (burglary, arson, larceny-theft, and motor vehicle theft) per 100,000 people.
