These are the top 20 most densely populated cities in the world

With a population density of 760,261 people per square mile, Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, is the most crowded city on the planet, according to the CEOWORLD magazine study. Among the world’s 20 most densely populated cities, 18 are in Asia and 2 are in Europe. Can you guess which one?

Phnom Penh, the vibrant bustling capital of Cambodia, with a population density of 193,730 people per square mile, is the 2nd most densely populated city on earth, followed by Manila, the capital of the Philippines, home to 171,301 people per square mile at the 3rd place.

To identify the world’s 20 most densely populated cities, CEOWORLD magazine reviewed population and land area estimates for the “city proper” with data from the UN Statistics Division’s 2015 Demographic Yearbook.

Caloocan City (69,115 people per sq mile) fourth on the list, it is still almost two and a half time less than that of Manila which is 3rd among 20 most densely populated cities.

Chennai (64,655 people per sq mile) is 5th on the list, Kolkata is 6th with 64,020, Surat 7th with 56,142, Paris 8th with 55,138, Hyderabad 9th with 54,558, and Kathmandu is tenth 3,031 people per sq mile.
