It comes as no surprise that Russia’s President Vladimir Putin was named the most powerful person in the world in a new ranking by Forbes magazine – and Donald Trump follows at No. 2. Angela Merkel is in 3rd place, China’s President Xi Jinping is in 4th, with Pope Francis behind him.
Putin, who leads the world’s largest nation and exerts a global influence, has clung to first place in the list for the past four years
Despite the British prime minister Theresa May’s addition to the business magazine’s list, the rankings — dominated by CEOs and heads of state — includes only SIX women.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who is seeking re-election, placed No.3 remains the most powerful woman, followed by Janet Yellen (6th), Theresa May (13th), Christine Lagarde (25th), Ginni Rometty (61st), and Mary Barra (62nd)
The highest ranked businessman on the list was Bill Gates, who is No. 7 on the list — 28 members of the list serve as chief executives of major companies.

“There are nearly 7.4 billion humans on planet Earth, but these 74 men and women make the world turn. Business magazine’s annual ranking of the world’s most influential people identifies one person out of every 100 million whose actions mean the most,” the magazine said.
