World’s Top 25 Best Countries For Logistics Performance In 2016: Germany Comes Out On Top Again

For the 2nd time running, Germany has ranked number 1 among 160 countries according to the latest World Bank’s Logistics Performance Index (LPI) report entitled “Connecting to Complete 2016.” It is followed by Luxembourg, Sweden, Netherlands and Singapore.

Further, in terms of 6 sub-indices of the logistics performance index — Customs, infrastructure, international shipments, logistics quality & competence, tracking & tracing, and timeliness — Germany’s ranking stood at 2, 1, 8, 1, 3 and 22, respectively.

India has climbed 19 positions to reach the 35th spot – an excellent performance in logistics will not only boost modi govt programmes, such as Make in India, by enabling India to become part of the global supply chain, but also help increase trade. India is ahead of comparatively advanced economies like Portugal, New Zealand, Estonia, Greece, Croatia, and Russia.

The logistics report, released every 2 years, is an benchmarking tool created to help countries identify the opportunities and challenges they face in their performance on trade logistics and what they can do to improve their performance.
