Well, here is a list of the 8 most anticipated upcoming superhero films based on comic books that are expected to hit theaters over the next 2 years.  My goodness! Truly exciting times for comic-book-movie fanboys and girls.

With all the superhero movies flying around, we put together a planning calendar of all opening dates for upcoming superhero movies.  You don’t have to wait, here’s the list so far:

2015

1. May 1, 2015 – Avengers: Age of Ultron, scripted and directed by Joss Whedon, the film stars Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, and James Spader.

2. June 19, 2015 – Fantastic Four, directed by Josh Trank, the film stars Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Bell and Toby Kebbell.

3. July 17, 2015 – Ant-Man, Peyton Reed is set to direct the film, written by Edgar Wright, Joe Cornish and Adam McKay, the film stars Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly and Corey Stoll.

4. March 25, 2016 – Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, directed by Zack Snyder, written by Chris Terrio, the film stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, and Holly Hunter.

5. May 6, 2016 – Captain America 3, Anthony and Joe Russo is set to direct the film, following up The Winter Soldier, Captain America 3 will reportedly deal with Cap’s strained relationship with Bucky Barnes, Chris Evans returning as Captain America.

6. May 27, 2016 – X-Men: Apocalypse, a sequel to X-Men: Days of Future Past, directed by Bryan Singer, Simon Kinberg, Dan Harris, and Michael Dougherty are also working on this film. Apocalypse finds its villain in (surprise!) Apocalypse, an ancient mutant (one of the first, in fact).

7. July 8, 2016 – Doctor Strange, Scott Derrickson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Sinister) will be directing this film based on the character created by Steve Ditko and Stan Lee.

8. November 11, 2016 – The Sinister Six — A Spider-Man spin-off, The Sinister Six will focus on a team of Spidey’s villains who team up in an effort to take down the web crawler.
